Biriyani for breakfast ?

In India Biriyani is not just a food item it's  an emotion. What I believe is if you ask 10 people at least 8 of them would be biriyani lovers. Biriyani is a full package because of the flavours and delicious smell oozing out from the perfect combination of rice, protein and hell lot of spices to blow your senses . As you all know there are several  varieties of Biriyani in India based on the region. Every variant is unique in its own way but equally scrumptious. One such variant is Hoskote Dum Biriyani. Hoskote is located about 25-30 kms from Bangalore. Two popular biriyani eateries here are Mani Dum Biriyani and Anand Dum Biriyani. So what is special about these places ? Here the biriyani is cooked through the night and served early morning. Yes! Biriyani for breakfast. All the ingredients (ghee, herbs, spices, mutton etc) used in the recipe are organic, locally grown/farmed to ensure authentic flavours.
Unfortunately I am "I can't eat biriyani for breakfast" kind of a person. But I did tag along with my brothers on a fine Tuesday morning just to check this place out. On a normal day my brother is the last person to get out of the bed but this morning it was different as he was waking us up out of enthusiasm to try out this delicacy ! By 6.45am we hit the road to Hoskote. We decided to go to Mani Dum Biriyani as they were the first ones to come up with the concept in 1992. That time when they just opened they started by selling just 2kgs of biriyani every morning  whereas now they sell upto 500kgs on Sundays. This eatery is open only on Sundays,Tuesdays and Fridays. Also before they used to start cooking the biriyani around 2 am and serve by 5am . Thats why this biriyani also had the name "5am Biriyani" but now they open at 7am (let us blame it on Covid?).

It was already 8am by the time we reached the place , crowd was slowly dying down. As my brothers were digging in this hot plate of happiness with all the excitement, I curiously watched thinking when will I get to taste this yumminess ? I got it packed to eat it for lunch. Surprisingly even after few hours of sitting in the container and reheating, when I finally got to it, it did not disappoint me at all, oh damn those flavours ! My palates were so impressed and I kept wondering how extra amazing this could have been if I had eaten it in the morning when it is served fresh and steamy right out of that huge handi.  This biriyani definitely lives upto the hype and a must try. The quantity, quality, amount of meat they put is very reasonable for the price they charge. I really wish I had taken better pictures to post here. Disclaimer: this place is all about biriyani and not ambiance!

Soooooooo if you are like me, make an exception,  Biriyani for breakfast is probably not a bad idea !
